Microsoft has rolled out the October 2025 non-security preview update for Windows 11 users on versions 25H2 and 24H2, delivering new AI-powered Copilot+ enhancements, a redesigned Start menu, File Explorer improvements, and system reliability fixes. Distributed through gradual and normal rollout phases, this preview update (KB5067036 – OS builds 26200.7019 and 26100.7019) focuses on productivity, accessibility, and seamless AI integration across the Windows ecosystem.

With this release, Copilot+ PCs gain powerful usability upgrades through “Click to Do,” making AI-assisted workflows more natural. Users can now type custom prompts directly, translate on-screen text, convert units on hover, and select objects using freeform or rectangle selection. Support for gesture-based activation on touchscreens improves accessibility, and Live Persona Cards from Microsoft 365 appear directly inside Click to Do for quick context on email senders.

Translation suggestions and contextual prompt recommendations are powered locally with Phi-Silica models, ensuring fast responses and improved on-device privacy. Additionally, tooltip-based object recognition and refined prompt cues make interacting with Copilot richer and more intuitive.

File Explorer gains smarter quick actions when hovering on files, including “Open file location” and “Ask Copilot,” with support for personal Microsoft accounts now enabled. Voice Access receives major improvements too, including Fluid Dictation using on-device AI models, a delay-before-command feature, and expanded Japanese language support.

The Start menu has been refreshed with a more responsive layout, scrollable app sections, customizable category and grid views, and better adaptation for larger screens. The integration of Phone Link directly into Start enhances continuity between Windows PCs and smartphones across Android and iOS.

Battery indicators and system tray graphics have also been updated to offer clearer charging status colors. New admin-security previews, smoother File Explorer performance, improvements for Narrator and screen readers, better text rendering, and multiple fixes across networking, display, taskbar, and app stability round out the update.

Microsoft also addressed known issues affecting Media Creation Tool on ARM64 devices and playback issues introduced in prior updates. For enterprise users, enhancements to Kerberos and Remote Credential Guard improve security reliability in domain environments.

Users can manually install the latest preview build by heading to Windows Update settings and selecting “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available.” This build underscores Microsoft’s commitment to deeper AI integration across Windows, improved productivity features, and more responsive UI design for everyday computing.
