The OPPO Find X9 arrives as the latest flagship in the series and brings several meaningful upgrades compared to last year’s Find X8. While OPPO has focused on improvements across performance, battery capacity and camera hardware, certain areas still show minimal progress. Here is a closer look at the upgrades and an overall perspective on where the Find X9 stands.

The Find X9 replaces the Find X8’s chipset with the newer Dimensity 9500 processor, offering around 20 percent improved performance and better efficiency. This upgrade contributes to smoother multitasking, faster app launches and more stable gaming performance. The battery receives a major jump as well, moving from a 5630mAh silicon-carbon setup to a 7025mAh unit, which should translate into significantly better endurance and reduced charging frequency.

On the camera front, OPPO has updated the primary sensor to the Sony LYT-808, an improvement over the previous LYT-700 used in the Find X8. The new sensor brings better dynamic range and improved low-light imaging. The remaining cameras are expected to be similar to the previous generation, but the Find X9 stands out with enhanced video capabilities. Users can now record 4K 120fps Dolby Vision videos, slow-motion modes and Log recording for more advanced colour grading.

The Find X9 also features slimmer bezels, now measuring 0.12cm, contributing to a more modern front design. Another notable addition is the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which improves accuracy and speed compared to optical sensors.

However, not everything has been upgraded. OPPO has retained the LTPS display technology and USB 2.0 port, both of which feel outdated on a flagship device. These omissions limit the potential jump in display smoothness and data transfer speeds. A price increase of around ₹5000 would have been justified had OPPO included an LTPO screen and USB 3.2 Gen 1, which are commonly found in competing premium devices.

Overall, the OPPO Find X9 offers strong upgrades where it matters most, particularly in performance, battery and video recording. Yet, the unchanged display technology and USB standard may hold it back from fully matching other flagships in its segment. Buyers looking for better endurance and improved imaging will find the X9 appealing, while those prioritising modern display standards may feel the changes are incomplete.
