This development confirms earlier rumors suggesting Samsung might skip the anticipated Galaxy Buds FE 2 or Galaxy Buds 2 FE naming entirely. Instead, the successor to the original Galaxy Buds FE (model R400) may launch as the Galaxy Buds Core, indicating a possible rebranding or new strategy for the mid-range TWS segment.
In parallel, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE seems set to further expand the Galaxy Buds 3 family, which debuted with the Buds 3 Pro around July–August 2024. Though details about specs or features remain under wraps, the discovery of model numbers at this stage usually precedes launch within a few months.
Samsung’s decision to sidestep traditional sequential naming suggests a streamlined or repositioned product roadmap—potentially aimed at differentiating models not just by generation, but by use case or performance tier. The Core label may imply a more essential or entry-level experience, whereas the FE (Fan Edition) badge generally indicates a budget-friendly offering with flagship-like features.
