Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t be bringing the charging upgrade many fans had been hoping for. According to a new certification filing, the device will once again be limited to 45W wired charging, despite earlier reports suggesting Samsung could move up to 60W this year.

The listing, found on China’s Quality Certification Center, reveals support for 10V/4.5A or 15V/3A charging—identical to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Since the Chinese version typically highlights Samsung’s top-tier specifications, it’s unlikely that international models will differ. Meanwhile, the rest of the lineup remains conservative, with the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge expected to stick to 25W charging. In comparison, the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro models will support up to 40W fast charging, highlighting Samsung’s relatively cautious approach.

This means that users expecting a major leap in charging speeds may be disappointed, especially considering how Chinese smartphone makers like Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus are already delivering 100W or faster charging. Samsung, however, appears to be prioritizing battery health and safety over charging speed, with the Ultra continuing to feature a 5,000 mAh battery—suggesting charging times will remain mostly unchanged.

Adding to concerns, recent leaks suggest the Ultra’s 3x zoom camera might be downgraded with a smaller sensor. Combined with the unchanged charging speed, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could feel like an incremental update designed to maintain the annual cycle rather than offering a significant generational leap. This might leave current Galaxy S25 Ultra owners less motivated to upgrade.

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026. To keep interest high, the company is already teasing a “Mystery Box” preorder bonus, which is expected to include extras like a free case and screen protector. Whether these perks will be enough to offset the lack of charging and camera upgrades, however, remains uncertain.
