Xiaomi is gearing up to launch its next flagship lineup, the Xiaomi 17 series, in China on September 30. Alongside Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, leaks suggest the company is putting extra emphasis on battery life this year.

According to Weibo leaker Panda Is Very Bald, citing Bilibili videos from Neural Tin Tin, the Xiaomi 17 series will feature significantly larger batteries than previous models. The standard Xiaomi 17 is said to include a 7,000mAh battery, up from 5,400mAh on last year’s Xiaomi 15, offering a notable boost in endurance when paired with the new Snapdragon chip’s efficiency improvements.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro is rumored to carry a slightly smaller 6,300mAh battery, still an upgrade over the 6,100mAh unit in the 15 Pro. At the top end, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max could feature a massive 7,500mAh cell, making it one of the largest batteries in a mainstream flagship device. All three models are expected to support 100W fast charging, compared to 90W on the previous generation.
The leak also includes an image showing four separate batteries, with the one on the far right believed to belong to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. This unit reportedly measures 6,800mAh, surpassing last year’s 15 Ultra battery of 6,000mAh.
These higher capacities, combined with faster charging, indicate that the Xiaomi 17 series could deliver significant improvements in battery life. Of course, real-world endurance will depend on how efficiently the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 balances performance and power draw.
