realme has officially announced a long-term strategic partnership with RICOH IMAGING COMPANY LTD., marking one of the most significant collaborations in the smartphone imaging industry. Set to debut on October 14 in Beijing, China, this alliance aims to transform mobile photography and bring authentic street photography experiences to users worldwide.

The collaboration between realme and RICOH has been four years in the making, resulting in a deeply customized imaging solution for the upcoming realme GT 8 Pro. To celebrate the milestone, both companies released a short film titled “4 Years in One Snap,” showcasing their shared vision and engineering efforts behind this partnership.
According to realme’s Vice President and CMO, Chase Xu, the partnership was born out of the need to address two key pain points among young users—repetitive smartphone camera hardware and overly processed algorithms that compromise photo authenticity. Xu emphasized that users today seek more individuality and realism in their photos, moving away from the “perfect style” imagery that dominates social media.
RICOH IMAGING’s General Manager of the Camera Business Division, Kazunobu Saiki, echoed these sentiments, highlighting that both brands share a user base of creative young photographers. He noted that the collaboration is not only about product innovation but also about fostering a culture that celebrates real-life moments through street photography. This philosophy aligns with the legacy of RICOH’s iconic GR series, renowned for its compact design, fast responsiveness, and natural color tones.
The realme GT 8 Pro brings RICOH’s GR heritage to the smartphone segment by incorporating co-engineered imaging hardware, advanced optical tuning, and GR-inspired UI design. The device will feature five iconic RICOH GR film-style color profiles and customized tone adjustments, allowing users to recreate authentic, film-like street photography experiences directly on their smartphones.
Through deep technical integration between realme and RICOH’s imaging teams, the GT 8 Pro achieves a balance between cutting-edge optics and emotional storytelling. It reflects nearly 30 years of RICOH’s camera craftsmanship, blending it seamlessly with realme’s youthful energy and AI-powered imaging algorithms to create a photography experience that goes beyond typical smartphone cameras.
The collaboration’s slogan, “Snap By No Rules,” encapsulates the philosophy behind the project—capturing spontaneous, meaningful moments without overthinking or chasing perfection. Xu describes it as “a fresh, young way to take photos,” encouraging users to simply press the shutter and capture reality as it unfolds. Saiki added that the partnership aims to make the joy of street photography accessible even to those who have never used a professional camera.
With the official launch approaching on October 14, this partnership between realme and RICOH IMAGING is set to redefine the boundaries of smartphone photography. It symbolizes a new chapter in mobile imaging, one that values authenticity, emotion, and the art of everyday life. More details about the realme GT 8 Pro and its camera system will be unveiled during the official event.
