WhatsApp Officially Launches Dedicated Apple Watch App with Messaging and Call Features

Meta has officially launched the long-awaited WhatsApp app for Apple Watch, nearly ten years after the first Apple Watch was introduced in April 2015. This marks a major expansion for WhatsApp, which is now available across Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch devices.

The new WhatsApp app allows Apple Watch users to access key messaging features directly from their wrist. The rollout comes after Meta’s release of the iPad version of WhatsApp earlier this year, expanding the app’s ecosystem across all Apple platforms.

The new WhatsApp for Apple Watch app introduces several features designed to enhance communication convenience:

• Call notifications – Users can now see incoming WhatsApp calls on their watch, allowing them to identify the caller without checking their iPhone.
• Full message support – The app allows users to read complete WhatsApp messages, including long texts, directly from their wrist.
• Written messages – You can compose and send text messages right from the Apple Watch screen.
• Voice messages – Easily record and send voice messages using the built-in microphone.
• Emoji reactions – Quick reactions are available, letting you send emojis instantly to respond to chats.
• Media support – The app provides clearer image and sticker previews for a more engaging messaging experience.
• Chat history – Users can scroll through a greater portion of their chat history when reading messages.

Meta confirmed that end-to-end encryption remains active across all messages and calls, ensuring privacy and security on par with other WhatsApp platforms. The app is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 or newer models running watchOS 10 or later.

Meta has also stated that additional improvements and new features will be introduced in future updates based on user feedback. The launch of WhatsApp on the Apple Watch further cements Meta’s efforts to offer seamless, cross-platform communication experiences for users globally.
