Canon Europe has expanded its cinema lens lineup with the launch of the CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1, its widest-ever Cine-Servo lens. Designed for both confined studio setups and large-scale live events, the new lens delivers an ultra-wide 11mm focal length with an expansive 100-degree angle of view, making it a powerful tool for capturing immersive scenes where both subject and setting need to be in frame.

Weighing approximately 3kg, the CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1 is also the lightest lens in Canon’s Cine-Servo series. This makes it ideal for versatile setups such as gimbals, cranes, robotics, and wire cams, while still being comfortable for shoulder-mounted shooting. Its lightweight yet durable build ensures mobility without compromising image quality.

Canon has equipped the new Cine-Servo lens with its next-generation e-Xs V Digital Drive Unit, offering improved servo control, a highly responsive iris, focus breathing correction, and USB-C connectivity. The removable servo unit allows quick reconfiguration for cinema or live production workflows, including sports, documentaries, and newsgathering.

One of its standout features is the built-in 1.5x extender, which extends its versatility. On Super 35mm cameras, it broadens focal range, while on Full Frame cameras, it ensures full compatibility. This makes the lens suitable for both high-end broadcast and cinematic projects, delivering premium 8K HDR optical performance with exceptional edge-to-edge sharpness and an 11-blade iris for smooth, cinematic bokeh.

The CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1 is available in both RF and PL mounts. The PL variant supports Cooke /i Technology™ and ZEISS eXtended Data™ for real-time metadata, essential for VFX-heavy and virtual production workflows. The RF mount version further enhances capabilities with Canon’s advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF and real-time lens distortion correction.

Key Features of the Canon CN5x11 IAS T R1/P1:

  • Widest Cine-Servo lens from Canon with 11–55mm focal length and 100° field of view
