The Vivo S2 5G could be heading to global markets under a different name. Based on the latest images and branding, the Vivo S2 5G could launch internationally as the Vivo V80 Lite 5G.

This would not be completely surprising for Vivo, as the company has previously used different names for similar smartphones across different markets. The latest Vivo V80 Lite 5G promotional material also appears to show a design that closely matches the Vivo S2.

The biggest clue comes from the design. The Vivo S2 features a slim body, curved edges and a horizontal camera island with two large circular cameras and a distinctive circular flash. The same camera layout and overall design can be seen in the Vivo V80 Lite 5G promotional images.

The blue finish, camera arrangement and curved display design all look extremely similar, suggesting that Vivo could use the S2 as the hardware base for the V80 Lite 5G in global markets.

Based on the Vivo S2 specifications, the phone features:

  • 6.83-inch 3D curved AMOLED display
  • 1.5K resolution
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset
  • 8GB RAM
  • 128GB and 256GB storage options
  • 50MP primary rear camera
  • 2MP secondary rear camera
  • 32MP front camera
  • 7,050mAh battery
  • 44W fast charging
  • IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance
  • Android 16 with OriginOS 6
  • 5G connectivity

One of the biggest highlights is the 7,050mAh battery. Vivo appears to be focusing heavily on battery life while still keeping the phone relatively slim. The combination of a large battery and a 120Hz AMOLED display could make the device a strong option for users who spend a lot of time gaming, watching videos and using social media.

The curved AMOLED display also gives the phone a more premium look. With a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution, the display should offer smooth scrolling and sharp visuals for everyday use.

Vivo has also given the phone a distinctive camera design. The rear panel features a horizontal pill-shaped camera island with two large circular camera rings and another circular element beside them. The same arrangement appears in the Vivo V80 Lite 5G images shared so far.

The Vivo S2 is also expected to run Android 16 with OriginOS 6, giving it Vivo’s latest software experience. If the V80 Lite 5G is indeed a rebranded version of the S2, this software package could also make its way to the global model.

For now, Vivo has not officially confirmed that the Vivo S2 5G will launch globally as the Vivo V80 Lite 5G. The connection should therefore be treated as a possibility rather than a confirmed rebranding.

However, the similarities between the devices are hard to ignore. If Vivo keeps the same hardware, the V80 Lite 5G could offer a 3D curved AMOLED display, Dimensity 7360-Turbo processor, 7,050mAh battery, 50MP camera and IP68/IP69 protection.

Vivo could still make changes to the camera setup, storage, charging or software depending on the market. Pricing and availability for the V80 Lite 5G are also yet to be confirmed.

The Vivo S2 5G already has an interesting combination of premium design, a large battery and a curved AMOLED display. If it does arrive globally as the Vivo V80 Lite 5G, Vivo could have another strong V-series smartphone on its hands.
