ZTE has unveiled the nubia Air at IFA 2025, introducing a new “Air-style” smartphone category that combines ultra-slim design with flagship-level durability and features. The device measures just 5.9mm thin while still packing a large 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED 120Hz display and a 5000mAh battery, weighing only 172 grams.

Despite its ultra-slim profile, the nubia Air delivers robust endurance thanks to an AI-powered power management system that optimizes CPU scheduling and application usage. ZTE claims the battery can sustain more than 1,000 charging cycles, ensuring reliable everyday use for over three years.

Durability is another highlight. The phone comes with IP68, IP69, and IP69K certifications, allowing it to withstand submersion in water up to 1.5m for 30 minutes and high-pressure water jets at 80°C. Its aluminum alloy frame has also been tested through thousands of drop and rolling impact scenarios, confirming its rugged build.

Under the hood, the nubia Air runs on a UNISOC T8300 5G octa-core SoC paired with 8GB RAM (expandable to 12GB via dynamic RAM) and 256GB storage. It ships with Android 15 and offers smart AI-driven features like Dynamic Image, AI Sport Snapshot, Video Anti-shake, AI Magic Photos, and real-time translation.

For imaging, the phone features a 50MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and an auxiliary lens, alongside a 20MP front-facing camera. Additional features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, HiFi 4 DSP with high-performance audio codec, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 LE, and dual-mic AI noise cancellation.

The nubia Air is backed by a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. It comes in Titanium Black, Streamer Black, and Titanium Desert colors. Pricing starts at USD 279 (approx. Rs. 24,595), with availability in Europe this month followed by Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and other global markets. Speaking on the launch, Bai Keke, Vice President of ZTE, emphasized that nubia Air was developed to meet the demands of younger consumers seeking both style and substance. “We listened to young consumers worldwide and heard a clear message: they were tired of choosing between a stylish, slim, elegant smartphone and a massive battery. nubia Air is our answer,” he said.
