Huawei Pura X View Officially Launched With 7,000mAh Battery and 200MP Camera

Huawei has officially revealed the price and full specifications of the Pura X View in China. The smartphone takes a very different approach to the usual candybar design by using a wide 16:9.5 display instead of the tall screens found on most modern phones.

The result is a phone that looks like a regular smartphone but offers a much wider viewing area. Huawei is also packing it with a large 7,000mAh battery, a 200MP main camera and its own Kirin 9030S chipset.

A very different smartphone design

The Pura X View features a 6.39-inch OLED display with a 1320 x 2232 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Its unusual 16:9.5 aspect ratio makes the screen considerably wider than conventional smartphone displays.

Huawei claims peak brightness can reach 6,500 nits, while the bezels measure just 1.05mm on all four sides. The phone is 6.68mm thick and weighs around 201 grams, which is notable considering the large battery inside.

The wide display is the phone’s biggest talking point. It gives users more horizontal space for videos, games, multitasking and other applications without requiring a folding mechanism.

7,000mAh battery and 200MP camera

Huawei has equipped the Pura X View with a 7,000mAh battery. The phone supports fast wired charging and wireless charging, although charging specifications can vary by market and source.

The rear camera system is led by a 200MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation. It is joined by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP telephoto camera with optical stabilisation.

There is also a 50MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Huawei has added AI-powered photography tools, including features designed to help with portrait composition and image processing.

Kirin 9030S and HarmonyOS 7

The smartphone is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9030S chipset and comes with 12GB of RAM. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

The Pura X View runs HarmonyOS 7. As with other recent Huawei smartphones in China, Google Mobile Services are not included.

Huawei has priced the 12GB + 256GB version at CNY 5,999. The 12GB + 512GB model costs CNY 6,999, while the top 12GB + 1TB version is priced at CNY 8,499.

Pre-orders in China are scheduled to begin on September 9. Huawei has not yet confirmed international availability.

The Pura X View is an interesting experiment because Huawei is trying to solve the demand for a larger, wider smartphone screen without making the device fold. Its combination of a wide display, 7,000mAh battery and 200MP camera also gives it plenty of headline-worthy hardware.

If Huawei eventually brings this unusual design to more markets, it could add another interesting direction to the smartphone industry, which has recently focused heavily on foldables and increasingly narrow bezels.
