Xiaomi says its global Internet of Things platform had more than 1.1 billion connected devices by the end of the second quarter of 2026. The company shared the figure during a technology and connected-vehicle industry event.
The platform links products such as smart-home devices and other connected hardware. Xiaomi says it is also investing in core technologies, including chips, operating systems and embodied AI.
Long-term investment plans

The company reported spending 105.5 billion yuan on core technology research over the past five years. It expects the related investment to exceed 200 billion yuan over the next five years.
These are company-reported figures. The connected-device count does not necessarily mean that every device is active at the same time or used daily.
Passionategeekz Take
The next phase of smart-home competition will depend on how well devices work together, not just how many products a company sells. Xiaomi’s scale gives it room to build more connected features, but the everyday experience will matter most to users.
