Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China. The new flagship smartphones bring a major upgrade in performance, display technology, cameras and battery capacity. Both phones feature a secondary OLED display on the rear, Leica camera technology and the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 family of chipsets.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is the smaller model with a 6.4-inch display and a 7000mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max comes with a much larger 6.9-inch display and an 8500mAh battery. Both models support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging and run Android 17 with HyperOS 4.
Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will go global this year. However, an India-specific launch date has not been officially announced yet. A current report from Smartprix claims Xiaomi may bring only the Xiaomi 18 Pro to India, while the Pro Max has reportedly been removed from the current India roadmap. Indian buyers should therefore wait for Xiaomi India to officially confirm the Pro Max.
Dual OLED Displays and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Performance
The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch TCL M11 Super Pixel 2.0 Real RGB OLED display with a 2436 × 1120 resolution. The flat panel supports a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate and can reach up to 4000 nits of peak brightness, while HBM reaches 2100 nits. It also supports BT.2020, 2160Hz PWM dimming, Privacy Display technology and Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0. The bezels measure just 0.99mm.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max gets a much larger 6.9-inch TCL M11 Super Pixel 2.0 Real RGB OLED display with a 2624 × 1208 resolution. It also supports a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, 4000 nits peak brightness, 2100 nits HBM, BT.2020, Privacy Display and 2160Hz PWM dimming. The bezels are also just 0.99mm.
Both smartphones feature a second OLED display on the rear. The Xiaomi 18 Pro gets a 2.7-inch 120Hz OLED rear display, while the Pro Max gets a larger 2.9-inch 120Hz OLED rear display. Both rear screens can reach 4000 nits peak brightness and support BT.2020.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max moves to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both platforms are based on a 2nm process. The phones also use LPDDR5X RAM with speeds of up to 9600Mbps and UFS 4.1 storage.
For sustained performance, the Xiaomi 18 Pro gets a 4355mm² vapor chamber, while the Pro Max uses an even larger 5513mm² cooling system. This should help both phones maintain performance during gaming and other demanding workloads.
Leica 200MP Cameras and Huge Batteries
The camera setup is one of the biggest highlights of both smartphones. The Xiaomi 18 Pro comes with a 200MP Light Hunter 960 main camera with OIS, a 50MP OV51D ultra-wide camera and a 200MP HP5 periscope telephoto camera with 3.2x optical zoom and a 75mm focal length. The telephoto camera can focus as close as 12cm, making it useful for close-up photography.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max takes the main camera a step further with a 200MP Light Hunter 960L sensor featuring OIS, LOFIC technology and up to 16.2EV dynamic range. It is paired with the same 50MP OV51D ultra-wide camera and 200MP HP5 3.2x periscope telephoto camera. Both phones also feature Leica optics.
For selfies and video calls, both smartphones use a 50MP OmniVision OV50M front camera.
Battery capacity is another major difference between the two models. The Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7000mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max comes with an enormous 8500mAh battery. Both support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. They also support 27W reverse wired charging and reverse wireless charging.
The Pro Max therefore combines its larger battery with a larger cooling system and a bigger display, making it the higher-capacity model in the series.
Software, Features and Full Specifications
Both smartphones run Android 17 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4. They also include Super Xiaomi AI 2.0 and Xiaomi MiMo AI features. Xiaomi has included its Surge P4 and Surge G2 chips along with Xiaomi T1 and T1+ chips for additional power and connectivity management.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro comes with IP69, IP68 and IP66 protection, while the Pro Max carries an IP69 rating according to the supplied specifications. Both phones include an IR blaster, 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, USB 3.2 Gen 1, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and UWB.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro measures 8.46mm thick and weighs 203 grams in selected colours, while another version measures 8.56mm and weighs 208 grams. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max measures 8.39mm and weighs 235 grams in some colours, while another version measures 8.47mm and weighs 240 grams.
In full specifications, the Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, 200MP main camera with OIS, 50MP ultra-wide camera, 200MP 3.2x periscope telephoto camera, 50MP selfie camera, 7000mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max upgrades these specifications with a 6.9-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, 200MP Light Hunter 960L main camera, 8500mAh battery and a larger 5513mm² cooling system. Both models use Leica optics, Android 17 with HyperOS 4 and a secondary rear OLED display.
Price and India Availability
In China, the Xiaomi 18 Pro starts at CNY 5,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The top-end 16GB + 1TB Transparent Special Edition is priced at CNY 9,999. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999 for 12GB + 256GB and goes up to CNY 10,999 for the 16GB + 1TB Transparent Special Edition. These prices are roughly equivalent to ₹86,000 and ₹1,00,000 respectively before Indian taxes, duties and other launch costs.
For India, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could be expected to start around ₹99,999 to ₹1,09,999 if Xiaomi brings the 12GB + 256GB model to the country. This is an estimate based on the Chinese price and Xiaomi’s previous India pricing approach, not an official India price.
As of September 24, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will go global this year. However, Xiaomi has not announced an official India launch date for the 18 Pro Max. A fresh Smartprix report says Xiaomi may launch only the Xiaomi 18 Pro in India and has reportedly dropped the Pro Max from the current India roadmap. This means the Pro Max should not yet be described as confirmed for India.
The situation is particularly important because Xiaomi’s previous Pro models have had different regional availability. Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max were launched in China, while Xiaomi’s India lineup followed a different strategy.
