“Food for the Soul” is a slice-of-life anime currently airing in the spring 2025 season, featuring an original story and character designs by Atto, the creator of “Non Non Biyori.” The series is directed by Shinya Kawatsura, also known for his work on “Non Non Biyori,” alongside Toru Shunsui. The creative team includes Yoshihiro Hiki, who handles the series composition, and Hajime Mitsuda, responsible for character designs. The music for this P.A.WORKS production is composed by Hitomi Mizutani, also known for his work on “Non Non Biyori.”

In this enchanting show, the story follows Mako, a first-year university student who is experiencing life on her own for the first time. Finding solace in her love for cooking, Mako recreates gourmet dishes in her small kitchen. Shy and hesitant to dine out alone, her life takes a flavorful turn when she decides to join a foodie club. As she embarks on this journey alongside new friends, Mako learns not only about food but also the joys of shared meals and laughter, ultimately leading her to a deeper self-discovery.
The anime has recently introduced a new character, Shinon Ogawa, who is voiced by Yoshino Aoyama, known for her role as Hitori Gotoh in “BOCCHI THE ROCK!” A trailer showcasing Shinon has been released, allowing fans to get a glimpse of this cheerful character and her role in the storyline. Crunchyroll is currently streaming “Food for the Soul,” inviting viewers to savor the heartwarming adventures that lie ahead.
