Fresh speculation has emerged surrounding OnePlus’ future in India. A new Bloomberg report claims the company could eventually wind up its Indian operations in 2027 as part of a broader global restructuring under parent company OPPO. However, there has been no official confirmation from either OnePlus or OPPO, and the brand is continuing to launch new smartphones in India.
In fact, shortly after launching the OnePlus N6 in the country, the company has already begun teasing the arrival of the upcoming OnePlus N6x, suggesting that its product roadmap for India remains active.

Bloomberg Report Claims OnePlus Could Exit India in 2027
According to Bloomberg, OnePlus may begin shutting down its operations in the United States and several European markets as early as this week. The move is reportedly part of a larger restructuring taking place within OPPO’s global smartphone business.
The report further claims that the restructuring could later extend to additional markets, including India, sometime in 2027. While international operations may be scaled back, OnePlus is expected to continue operating in its home market of China.
Neither OnePlus nor OPPO has officially announced these plans. A spokesperson representing both companies reportedly declined to comment, leaving the timeline and scope of the reported restructuring unconfirmed.
Rumours Have Been Circulating Since Earlier This Year
This is not the first time reports about OnePlus’ future have surfaced. Earlier in 2026, rumours suggested that the brand was being dismantled globally. At the time, OnePlus India dismissed those claims, stating that its operations in the country were continuing as normal.
Since then, Robin Liu stepped down as CEO of OnePlus India amid reports of internal restructuring within OPPO. The company also shifted towards a stronger online-first and direct-to-consumer strategy, with smartphones being sold primarily through Amazon India, the official OnePlus website, and selected offline retailers. Its after-sales service has also been integrated with OPPO’s service network across India.
Why Is This Reportedly Happening?
The Bloomberg report attributes the restructuring to several challenges facing OPPO’s smartphone business. These include slowing growth in the US, Europe, and India, increasing competition, geopolitical pressure on Chinese smartphone brands in the US, and rising production costs caused by more expensive memory and other key components.
The report also mentions that Realme could reportedly reduce its presence in China as part of the same restructuring, while OPPO plans to strengthen its position in Central Europe and Realme focuses more on Nordic countries.
OnePlus N6x Already Teased for India
Interestingly, these reports come at a time when OnePlus is actively expanding its smartphone lineup in India.
The company recently teased the arrival of the OnePlus N6x, describing it as the next value-focused smartphone in the N-series. While an official launch date has not yet been announced, the teaser confirms that OnePlus continues to prepare new products for the Indian market.

What Does This Mean for Indian Buyers?
At this point, reports about OnePlus exiting India remain speculative. The company has not confirmed any plans to leave the market, and its continued product launches—including the recently launched OnePlus N6 and the upcoming OnePlus N6x—indicate that business is continuing as usual.
Unless OnePlus issues an official statement, Indian consumers should treat these reports as unconfirmed. Over the coming months, it will become clearer whether OPPO’s reported restructuring has any impact on OnePlus’ long-term strategy in India.
