Autopatch is a cloud service from Microsoft that aims to help automate Windows, enterprise-oriented Microsoft 365 applications, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Teams updates by configuring various update deployment policies.
At that time, Microsoft said it would launch hot repairs through Autopatch in June. Now, Microsoft has released further details this week as the service has begun to be available through Microsoft Intune MDM (Mobile Device Management).
Passionategeekz noted that in the latest announcement of the Microsoft 365 Admin Center website, Microsoft confirmed that from now on, the newly created Windows Quality Update policy will enable hot repairs by default to simplify the policy creation process. Starting from June 23, 2025, or shortly after this date, the new policy will automatically enable hot fix updates.
Organizations using Windows Autopatch will benefit from it, including faster security compliance and reduced downtime on devices running supported Windows versions.
For existing policies, Microsoft also provides detailed steps for IT administrators and system administrators to set Hot Repair as the default option for Windows Quality Updates. The specific operations are as follows:
1. Log in to the Microsoft Intune Admin Center.
2. Navigate to Devices > Windows Update > Quality Update.
3. Select the quality update policy you want to modify and a new screen displays its properties will appear.
4. Select Edit in the Settings section.
5. In the Automatic Update Deployment setting,Find the option “Apply without restarting the device when available (hot fix)”。
6. Switch it to “Allow”.
