Passionategeekz On June 17, Japanese industrial giant Honda officially announced today,Reusable rocket experimental aircraft successfully completed takeoff and landing experiment

Honda said that the company used its self-developed reusable rocket experimental machine to conduct Honda’s firstLanding experiment with a height of 300 meters. With this success, the company was able to advance research on reusable rockets to a new stage.

The rocket experimental aircraft is 6.3 meters long, 85 cm in diameter, and has a dry weight of 900 kg/wet weight of 1,312 kg. This off-land landing experiment aims to verify the key technical elements required for the reusable rocket, including the stability of the fuselage during ascending and descending, and the landing function.

Honda implemented the experiment for the first time, and the target body successfully landed off-land (Achieved altitude of 271.4 meters, landing position and target position error of 37 cm, flight time of 56.6 seconds) and successfully obtained the data on the rise and fall, and the experiment was successful.

Honda has conducted reusable rocket engine combustion experiments and hover experiments in Okichocho, Hiroo-gun, Hokkaido, Japan since 2024. This experiment set up a warning area with a radius of 1 km. During the experiment, street signs were set up, fences were installed, guards were deployed, and entry control was implemented.

Passionategeekz learned from Honda’s press release that the opportunity for rocket research is the “dream” of young Honda engineers who want to use Honda’s product development core technologies (such as combustion and control technologies) to make the rocket.Honda believes that launching artificial satellites through rockets can be connected to Honda’s various servicesbelieved that it could contribute to people’s lives, so we began research.

Honda revealed that it is still in the factor research stage and has not yet decided whether to commercialize it, but it will continue to promote factor research. At the same time, technology development is carried out with the goal of achieving low-Earth orbit arrival capabilities in 2029
