Unlike the previous model where key parts like the battery were glued in place, the WH-1000XM6 battery is now secured using just two screws, simplifying disassembly and replacement. Additionally, essential components such as the USB-C charging port, button board, and audio interface feature a modular design, allowing for easier removal and repair. Most internal parts can be accessed and replaced with standard screws, marking a clear shift in Sony’s approach toward user-friendly repairability.
In terms of design, the WH-1000XM6 supports a folding mechanism and includes a portable storage case, addressing earlier criticisms of the WH-1000XM5’s non-foldable form factor. Sony has also enhanced the active noise cancellation (ANC) performance, call quality, and overall sound quality. The introduction of an AI noise reduction mode further improves the isolation of human voices from background noise, offering a superior listening experience.
Priced at 3,499 yuan in China, the WH-1000XM6 went on sale starting May 16. Consumers shopping at JD.com’s flagship store can benefit from multiple promotions, including a 400 yuan coupon, a 20 yuan platform subsidy coupon, and an additional 12% national subsidy discount. This effectively reduces the price to approximately 2,617.15 yuan. Post-purchase, buyers receive a 100 yuan E-card, potentially lowering the price further to around 2,517 yuan.
