TCL appears set to expand its NxtPaper lineup with a new compact tablet, the TCL Tab 8 NxtPaper 5G. According to a leak from tipster Evan Blass, the upcoming device will feature an 8-inch NxtPaper display paired with 5G connectivity, making it a portable and eye-friendly option for students, professionals, and readers.
NxtPaper technology is TCL’s signature display innovation designed to reduce glare, flicker, and blue light exposure, offering a more comfortable viewing experience. The Tab 8 NxtPaper 5G is said to use the fourth-generation panel, which supports both full-color mode and a monochrome E Ink-style mode. A dedicated “NxtPaper Key” will allow users to toggle between modes instantly, while stylus support aims to replicate a natural pen-and-paper feel for note-taking and sketching.
Leaked renders show a clean and compact design with slim bezels on the sides and slightly thicker ones on the top and bottom. The tablet is expected to house dual speaker grilles, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a SIM tray that doubles as a microSD card slot. Verizon is rumored to be among the first carriers to offer the device in the U.S.
While full specifications such as resolution, chipset, and RAM remain unconfirmed, the Tab 8 NxtPaper 5G will succeed the TCL Tab 8 4G launched back in 2022. With the addition of 5G and TCL’s advanced display tech, the new model could deliver a strong balance of productivity and entertainment on the go.
By shrinking its NxtPaper technology into an 8-inch 5G tablet, TCL may appeal to readers, students, and mobile professionals who need a device that’s both easy on the eyes and versatile.
