Xiaomi has officially unveiled its next-generation flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, in China. Both devices sit at the top of Xiaomi’s premium lineup and focus heavily on display quality, imaging performance, and cutting-edge hardware. With a strong emphasis on professional photography and flagship-level performance, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra series is positioned to compete directly with the best Android smartphones available today.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a large 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 2K resolution of 2608 x 1200 pixels and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision, offering rich contrast and accurate colors. Xiaomi has also focused on eye comfort, with full-brightness DC dimming, a minimum brightness of just 1 nit, and a peak brightness that goes all the way up to 3,500 nits. The display is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0, adding durability to its premium design.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and fast UFS 4.1 storage. This combination ensures flagship-grade performance for gaming, multitasking, and AI-driven tasks. The phone runs Android 16 out of the box, layered with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3, which brings refined animations, better system optimization, and deeper ecosystem integration. Battery life is another major highlight of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The China variant packs a large 6,800mAh battery, while the global version is expected to feature a slightly smaller 6,000mAh unit. Charging speeds remain impressive, with 90W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging, making it one of the most versatile charging setups in the flagship segment.
On the camera front, Xiaomi continues to push boundaries. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with a 50MP front camera with autofocus, catering to high-quality selfies and video calls. At the back, it features a powerful triple-camera setup led by a 50MP 1-inch OmniVision OV50X Light Fusion 1050L main sensor with optical image stabilization. This is paired with a massive 200MP telephoto camera offering 3.2x to 4.3x optical zoom, OIS, and tele-macro capabilities, along with a 50MP Samsung JN5 ultra-wide camera with autofocus. This setup is clearly aimed at photography enthusiasts who demand flexibility and detail across focal lengths.

In terms of connectivity and hardware features, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra includes a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, and an X-axis linear motor for precise haptics. Connectivity options include dual SIM support with eSIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IR blaster, and a USB Type-C port with USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds. Xiaomi’s Star Communication system is also included, enhancing signal reliability in challenging conditions.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra measures 162.9 x 77.6 x 8.29mm and weighs 223.4 grams in Black, White, and Purple finishes, while the Green variant weighs slightly more at 224 grams. Color options include Black, Cold Smoke Purple, White, and Starry Sky Green, giving users both classic and bold choices.

The design includes a Leica red label and a Leica-led industrial aesthetic, making it instantly recognizable.
The Leica Edition also benefits from a co-developed Leica camera user interface, Leica Moment modes inspired by the classic M3 and M9 cameras, and an end-to-end computational photography model that is currently in beta. Additional features include exclusive Leica watermarks, Leica Looks filters, CAI photo authenticity protection, and advanced satellite connectivity with Tiantong and Beidou dual satellite support.
