Just days after the launch of the iPhone 17 series, rumors about Apple’s next flagship have already started surfacing. According to a report from Chinese leaker Setsuna Digital, the iPhone 18 lineup, expected in 2026, may feature a smaller Dynamic Island, but under-display Face ID could still be missing.
The leak indicates that Apple is aiming to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island cutout, which currently houses the front camera and Face ID sensors. Rather than removing it entirely, the company may introduce a more compact version, meaning under-display Face ID or a hidden front camera might not arrive just yet, despite persistent rumors.
This report aligns with speculation about Apple’s plans for 2026, which may include other upgrades across the lineup and even the company’s first foldable iPhone. However, under-display technology may not debut until the iPhone 19 series or a special anniversary edition in 2027.
Setsuna Digital has a reasonably reliable track record, having correctly leaked the iPhone 17’s vapor chamber cooling system, although not every detail has been flawless. As with all early leaks, readers should approach this information cautiously.
If these details prove accurate, the iPhone 18 will likely focus more on refinement than a radical redesign. Apple seems to be taking a gradual approach toward an uninterrupted front display, while competitors such as Samsung continue advancing foldable technology. For now, a smaller Dynamic Island appears to be the next step in Apple’s methodical evolution of iPhone design.
