Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava International has announced a retail price increase of up to ₹3,000 across its existing 4G and 5G smartphone portfolio. The company cited escalating global raw material costs, specifically surging prices for DRAM and NAND flash memory chips throughout late 2026.

Impact on Indian Consumers
The price adjustments affect popular models in the Lava Agni and Yuva series. While budget brands have tried to absorb manufacturing cost hikes over the past year, sustained supply chain inflation has forced brands to pass a portion of the costs to retail channels. Industry analysts note that similar price adjustments may affect other budget brands in the coming weeks.

Passionategeekz Take
Component cost inflation in the memory market is a tough reality for budget brands. While price hikes are never fun for consumers, Lava’s domestic manufacturing presence still allows it to deliver competitive value compared to imported alternatives.
