Passionategeekz June 25th news: As AI reignites the enthusiasm of major tech companies for research and development, an emerging technology is expected to play a key role in this area. xMEMS has now brought an innovative technology to wearable devices after launching the solid-state “fan on a chip” last year. This technology is expected to allow future smart glasses to significantly improve their performance while not causing users to feel uncomfortable due to overheating.
xMEMS was founded in 2018 and is a company focusing on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. The California-based company started out as solid-state speakers. Last year, xMEMS launched the µCooling “chip fan” for mobile phones and other ultra-thin devices. Today, the company is applying its technology to the wearables field.
Passionategeekz noticed that as smart glasses continue to incorporate more advanced technologies, the cooling problem of equipment is becoming increasingly prominent. However, traditional mechanical fans not only produce noise, but also occupy valuable interior space, causing equipment performance to decline or appearance to become bulky. The technology on which xMEMS is famous may provide an ideal solution.
xMEMS says its µCooling chip can help smart glasses perform with full performance without overheating. The company claims thatThis silicon chip allows glasses to use more power from 60% to 70% before reaching thermal limits, and can reduce the temperature of the device by up to 40% while reducing thermal resistance by up to 75%.
xMEMS also notes that the advantage of this chip architecture is that it has no motor or bearings, is completely silent and vibration-free when running. Its size is also very small, just 9.3 mm x 7.6 mm x 1.13 mm. “The heat issues in smart glasses not only affect performance, but also directly concern the user’s comfort and safety. xMEMS’s µCooling technology is the only active cooling solution that is small enough, thin enough and light enough to integrate directly into the limited space of the glasses frame, actively managing surface temperatures for true all-weather wear.”
Currently, xMEMS has already provided samples to interested manufacturers and is expected to start mass production in early 2026. The launch of this technology is expected to provide important technical support for the future development of smart glasses, and promote the comprehensive improvement of wearable devices in terms of performance, comfort and reliability.
