[CNMO Technology News]According to “ZhiNeng Technology”, in May 2025, the new car market in Japan continued to grow moderately, with new car sales that month increasing by 3.7% year-on-year to 324,064 units. The cumulative sales volume in the first five months of this year was close to 1.95 million vehicles, an increase of 11.3% year-on-year. Against this overall positive background, Toyota performed well.

Data shows that Toyota’s sales in May reached 99,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 4.4%, and its market share reached 30.7%, continuing to maintain an absolute leading position in the Japanese local market. Many of its models performed well, among which the sales of the small SUV Raize soared to 8,867 units, a year-on-year increase of more than 200%, becoming one of the fastest-growing models this month. In addition, Roomy also achieved a year-on-year growth of 64.4%, entering the forefront of sales.

Although some traditional best-selling models such as Corolla/Cross and Sienta have declined, Toyota still holds a leading position in the Japanese auto market with its rich product matrix and stable market demand. In contrast, due to factors such as supply chain, Honda’s sales fell by 14.9% year-on-year, and its market share fell to 12.7%; Suzuki remained at 17.1%, ranking second.

It is worth mentioning that the Dafa brand grew by as much as 64% that month, mainly due to the low base in the same period last year and the active demand in the light vehicle market. Brands such as Mitsubishi and Isuzu have also achieved double-digit growth, while Lexus, Mazda and Subaru have maintained slightly positive growth.

Among imported brands, Mercedes-Benz continues to lead with sales of more than 4,000 units, while BMW has seen a slight decline, while Volkswagen and Audi have achieved rapid growth. Mini brand sales doubled, up 92%.

In addition, although the overall sales base of Chinese brand BYD is still relatively small, its sales in May exceeded 400 units, a year-on-year increase of 319.8%, showing initial growth potential in the new energy field.
