During the work, the system design and technical coordination work led by Xu Jianmin ensured the successful launch of Fengyun-1 polar orbit meteorological satellites and Fengyun-2 stationary meteorological satellites, and made important contributions to the research and development of Fengyun-3 and Fengyun-4 meteorological satellites and the future design of Fengyun series satellites.

Xu Jianmin proposed and promoted the establishment of a real-time meteorological database and meteorological program librarycreate tropical weather analysis business. His work has promoted the application of regional and global meteorological satellite data in weather forecasting, climate forecasting, natural disaster monitoring and agricultural services, producing significant economic and social benefits.

Xu Jianmin also actively participates in international activities related to meteorological satellites and was a member of the WMO Satellite Affairs Expert Group. At the same time, he actively participated in the work of the International Meteorological Satellite Coordination Organization and the International Cloud Wind Guidance Working Group.

The International Meteorological Organization Award is the highest honorary award in the global meteorological community and enjoys the title of “Meteorological Nobel Prize”.. The award is awarded annually to reward those around the world who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of meteorological, hydrological and geophysical sciences. Previously, Chinese scientists Ye Duzheng, Qin Dahe and Zeng Qingcun won this award.
