The successful acceptance of the low-clutter current drive system marks the completion of the complete process from design optimization, pre-research verification, processing and manufacturing, to testing and acceptance, and has laid a solid scientific and technological foundation for the design and development of the fusion reactor heating system. Related technologies can be expanded to be used in microwave heating, wireless communication, medical and health care, electronic technology and other fields.

“Kuafu” is named after a hero who chases the sun in ancient Chinese mythology. Its scientific name is “Comprehensive Research Facility for Critical Systems of Fusion Reactor Hosts (CRAFT)”, is a major national scientific and technological infrastructure project approved in the 13th Five-Year Plan. It started construction in December 2018 and is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2025.
