Passionategeekz On June 19, a routine test of SpaceX company occurred on Wednesday night local time in Texas, USA. The company’s Starship 36 rocket suddenly exploded during a static ignition test, and the scene instantly turned into a huge fireball.

According to the video provided by witnesses, at about 11 o’clock that night, when the Starship 36 rocket was testing at Musk’s Starship Base Test Site, its head suddenly exploded, and the strong light instantly made the screen white. As the light gradually faded, huge flames could be seen spreading on the ground, and the rolling black smoke rushed straight to the night sky.

According to Passionategeekz, static ignition testing is a routine procedure before flight, during which the rocket engine is ignited, but the rocket itself is firmly fixed to the launch frame and will not be actually launched. It is worth noting that the explosion was only a few weeks after another model of the Starship rocket exploded over the Indian Ocean. Today’s tests will help us improve the reliability of Starships and help SpaceX realize its vision of multi-planetary life.” SpaceX CEO Elon Musk also said that the launch pace of the next three flight tests will accelerate, about every 3 to 4 weeks.

The Starship has experienced multiple test failures before, including a flight abortion in April. Nonetheless, SpaceX said it will continue to work on rapid iteration and development, and the company said on its website: “Developmental testing is inherently unpredictable, but by putting the hardware in a flying environment as frequently as possible, we are able to quickly learn and perform design changes in the hope of building the Starship into a complete and fast reusable vehicle.”
