Passionategeekz On June 22, a Pokémon “Ashes” player (ThatOtaku26) posted on Reddit last week that he had an error when transferring his Switch data to Switch 2 (but the system did not report an error), and all the “20 years of game data” accumulated since the GBA era were lost, including all Pokémon that have been carefully cultivated over the past 20 years.
ThatOtaku26 collapsed and said, “I’m really helpless and I don’t even want to continue playing anymore”, “I’m almost crying.”
After the data loss incident spread, some supporting feedback reports on major social media claiming that Nintendo’s game data failed to transfer without cause. In addition to “Pokemon Zhu/Purple”, there are also games such as “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”, “Breath of the Wild”, “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Edition” and “Pokemon Sword/Shield”. Players insist that it was not caused by operational errors, but Nintendo has not responded so far.
ThatOtaku26 said: “The data transmission process is completely wrong, everything goes smoothly. The other Pokémon archives are all there, but the (data) of “Zhu” is gone, and there are all the Pokémons I have from the first GBA to the present. It has really been 20 years of hard work.”
He said that there was no error during the game data transfer. It was not until Switch 2 started that it was found that the archive of “Zhu” for more than 1,000 hours had been lost. It is said that after starting the game, he found that the system directly entered the language selection interface, and the system asked to “create a new character”, which means that all data in “Zhu” was completely lost.
He said that he “has all the Pokémon he cared about the most and used most often” and that the Pokémon originated from early works such as “Leaf Green” and “Diamond” are still there, but the archives of “Zhu” are only lost due to the influence of mysterious bugs. This loss of targeting made him unacceptable.
As far as Passionategeekz knows, Nintendo has launched the “Pokemon Home” app for games such as “Pokemon Zhu/Purple” that have no native cloud archive support to help players achieve backups, but ThatOtaku26 obviously has not used this app.
