Passionategeekz June 19th news, technology media xpertpick released a blog post today (June 19th), reporting that Samsung has approved a new patent describing the design of a new small folding phone. In addition to the rounded rectangular camera module, an innovative hinge system is also introduced.

In terms of appearance, the biggest highlight of this patent is the camera module in the upper right corner of the back, which adopts a rounded rectangular design and the edges of the body are also relatively rounded. The design includes side button layout, USB-C interface, speaker grille and other designs are similar to the existing Galaxy Z Flip series phones. Passionategeekz attaches the relevant patent diagrams as follows:

The blog post points out that the square camera module does not simply accommodate the lens, and it also reserves space at the edges and can contain additional sensors or components. However, the patent does not show the internal structure of the module, and the specific functions are still speculation.

Another highlight of the patent is the hinge design, which supports three forms: fully expanded, semi-folded and closed, and improves screen durability through enhanced structure.

The media notes that the hinge shaft adopts a multi-link design that may reduce screen creases by enhancing mechanical support. The connection between the edge of the screen and the hinge in the figure has been specially reinforced, which is speculated to increase the folding life or improve the visual flatness.
