However, this situation may be about to turn around. Recently, overseas media reported that Samsung is currently actively testing a variety of new battery technologies internally, with the goal of significantly improving the battery life of the device without sacrificing safety.
At present, many manufacturers including OPPO, vivo, Honor and Xiaomi have launched battery solutions using silicon-carbon negative electrode materials. This battery can achieve higher capacity in a smaller volume and is widely used in mid-to-high-end models. In contrast, Samsung has adopted a more cautious attitude. People familiar with the matter revealed that although Samsung is also exploring the application of silicon-carbon batteries, it is still cautious about the expansion problems that may arise in its long-term use. Safety is the primary consideration in Samsung’s R&D process.
Taking the S25 Edge as an example, the phone is mainly light and thin and light design, and is still equipped with a traditional 3900mAh lithium-ion battery, and does not use a new high-capacity battery solution. In addition, it is reported that Samsung is also studying solid-state batteries and next-generation lithium-ion battery technologies. Although these solutions are not yet mature, they are regarded as ideal choices to take into account both performance and safety in the future.
It is worth mentioning that in addition to battery technology, Samsung also seems to be more conservative in image system updates. Previously, there was news that the S series will not usher in a major upgrade until S28. This has also triggered discussions among the outside world about its overall product iteration strategy.
