Samsung’s next foldable clamshell smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, could be the first in the series to ship with an in-house Exynos processor instead of the usual Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets, according to a new report from South Korean outlet The Chosun Daily.
This news comes amid growing anticipation ahead of the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, rumored for early July. While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to continue with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (Elite Edition) chip, the Z Flip 7 may break from tradition by debuting the Exynos 2500.

Samsung’s switch to Exynos is reportedly driven by pricing considerations and the smaller shipment volume of foldables compared to the Galaxy S series. The company’s foundry appears to have resolved earlier yield issues associated with the 3nm node on which the Exynos 2500 is based — clearing the path for its adoption in the Z Flip 7. The device is expected to begin mass production this month with an initial batch of 200,000 units.
Galaxy Z Flip 7: Expected Specs and Features
Leaks suggest that the Z Flip 7 will feature a larger 4-inch secondary display — up from the Z Flip 6’s smaller screen. It’s also expected to run OneUI 8 based on Android 16, support 25W fast charging, and include a slightly larger 4,174mAh battery.
If these leaks prove accurate, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could offer not just incremental design upgrades but also a notable internal shift, signaling Samsung’s renewed confidence in its Exynos chipsets for premium devices. The Z Flip 6, for context, launched in India starting at Rs 1,09,999.
With production underway and Samsung ironing out key silicon manufacturing challenges, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may well become a pivotal moment in Samsung’s chipset strategy.
