Passionategeekz June 21, YouTube channel Blendlogic Tech is in the latest video, on the MacBook Pro laptop running macOS 26 Tahoe,Test the game performance after enabling Metal 4 and Game Porting Toolkit 3.0 (Beta 1).

Passionategeekz previously reported,Metal 4 mainly adds MetalFX frame interpolation technologywith the minimization of calculation overhead, the frame rate is increased by generating an additional frame between every two frame inputs.

In the latest video, Blendlogic tested the games “Black Myth: Goku”, “The Legacy of Hogwarts” and “The Witcher 3”. The test results show that under the optimization settings,All of these games reach or exceed 60 FPS.

In the test of “Black Myth: Goku”, DLSS technology performed particularly well, with a stable frame rate of around 70 FPS. Despite the problems of untranslated menus and unstable frame generation, the overall experience is satisfactory. In addition, creators speculate that subsequent chips such as M2 may lead to better performance.

“The Legacy of Hogwarts” performed well in the test. With DLSS enabled, the game frame rate has been increased from 45 FPS to 90 FPS (indoor scene), and the outdoor scene is also close to 70-80 FPS.

However, when switching to AMD FSR, performance dropped significantly, with indoor frame rates dropping to around 40 FPS and outdoor frame rates dropping to 30 FPS. Tests show that DLSS provides a more reliable image quality improvement experience on Apple Silicon.

“The Witcher 3” runs in DX11 mode and cannot use frame generation technology. Still, the game has frame rates of over 120 FPS at low image quality, making the most of the MacBook Pro’s 120 Hz ProMotion display. Even at high image quality, the frame rate remains stable at 60-70 FPS after turning off HairWorks.

By contrast, Spider-Man: Remake is more challenging to configure, with DLSS combined with Metal FX at a frame rate of about 50 FPS, but with AMD frame generation enabled, the frame rate drops below 40 FPS.
