POCO fans may have been expecting the next F-series phones to push the limits, but the latest leak brings both excitement and disappointment. The full specifications and official renders of the upcoming POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra have reportedly leaked ahead of their launch.
The two phones are expected to be global versions of the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max. They are tipped to offer flagship-level performance, high-refresh-rate displays, powerful cameras and 100W charging. However, there is one major problem that could upset POCO fans: the battery capacity is reportedly much smaller than the Redmi models.
POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Design and Specifications Leaked
According to the leak, both POCO phones will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. They could also come with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The POCO F9 Pro is expected to feature a 6.59-inch Plastic OLED display with QHD resolution and up to a 185Hz refresh rate. The F9 Ultra could get a larger 6.85-inch display with a 2608 × 1200-pixel resolution.
Both displays are reportedly being developed by TCL CSOT, with Xiaomi involved in the panel design and materials.
The Battery Downgrade Is the Biggest Disappointment
This is where things get frustrating.
The POCO F9 Pro is reportedly equipped with a 6,330mAh battery, while the F9 Ultra could pack an 8,050mAh battery. Those numbers are still large, but they look disappointing when compared with their Redmi counterparts.

For a performance-focused POCO smartphone, this is a strange compromise. A powerful Snapdragon chipset combined with a high-refresh-rate display can demand plenty of power. While 100W charging should help users top up quickly, a larger battery would have made these phones much more appealing.
POCO previously made battery capacity a major selling point with devices such as the POCO F7 5G, which featured a massive 7,550mAh battery in India. That makes the reported F9 Pro battery situation even more surprising.
Flagship Performance With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
Despite the battery concern, performance should be one of the strongest parts of the F9 series.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is expected to power both phones, with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. This combination should make the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra suitable for demanding gaming, multitasking and other heavy workloads.

POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Cameras
The camera hardware also looks promising.
The POCO F9 Pro is tipped to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel 3x telephoto camera with OIS.
The F9 Ultra could offer an even stronger setup with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel 5x telephoto camera.

The leaked weight figures are around 206 grams for the F9 Pro and 235 grams for the F9 Ultra.
POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Expected Price
The POCO F9 Pro is reportedly expected to start at €799 for the 12GB + 256GB configuration. The F9 Ultra could start at €999 for the 16GB + 512GB variant.
Both phones are expected to be offered in Black, White, Green and Red colour options in Europe.
There is currently no confirmed Indian price or official India launch information in the leak. The phones could reportedly launch globally later this month or in September.

Final Thoughts
The POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra look like extremely capable smartphones. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, high-refresh-rate displays, up to 16GB RAM, 100W charging and upgraded camera systems could make them some of the most interesting POCO phones yet.
But the battery downgrade is difficult to ignore. The leaked F9 Pro and F9 Ultra reportedly have significantly smaller batteries than the Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, even though the POCO phones are expected to be closely related to those devices.
For POCO fans, that could be a genuine disappointment. The brand has built a reputation around delivering powerful hardware with aggressive specifications, and the F9 series seems to compromise one of the most important parts of a modern performance phone.
Of course, these details are based on leaked information and the final specifications could still change before launch.
