[CNMO Technology News]On June 25, according to the Japanese photography information website, OM SYSTEM (formerly Olympus) has officially confirmed that there is a problem of incompatibility between its latest micro-single camera OM-5 Mark II and the widely praised external flash FL-LM3.
Previously, the product compatibility table of the OM SYSTEM official website stated that the OM-5 Mark II cannot support FL-LM3 flash. Since the appearance of OM-5 and OM-5 Mark II are highly similar and the hot shoe interface design is completely consistent, some users suspect that the information is an annotation error.
However, in response to DPRview, OM SYSTEM made it clear that this setting was based on a decision made after a comprehensive evaluation of product characteristics and was not a typo in technical documentation. This means that the OM-5 Mark II does not support the FL-LM3 flash that could have been used on models such as OM-5.
FL-LM3 is a lightweight portable flash launched by OM SYSTEM (formerly known as Olympus). It has a tilt and rotating light head, supports flexible flash shooting, and can also be used as a wireless flash drive to control other high-end flashes such as the FL-700 or the FL-900, so it is very popular among photography enthusiasts.
Although the OM-5 Mark II has only slightly upgraded its performance configuration and has not changed its appearance and hot shoe interface, the cancellation of support for the FL-LM3, which is still on sale, has caused regrets and confusion among many old users.
