Passionategeekz June 22, since the official release of Mario Racing World on June 5, the game has won wide praise from players and critics for its open world exploration and classic racing gameplay, becoming one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch 2 console. However, some players have recently expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of some functions in the game.

According to Passionategeekz, in the multiplayer hall of Mario Racing World, players can no longer easily view other players’ countries as easily as they do in Mario Racing 8 and Mario Racing 8 Deluxe Editions. The lack of this function triggers a polarized reaction from the player group. Many players said on Reddit that they miss this feature in Mario Racing 8 because it not only allows them to show their pride in their homeland, but also feel the wide appeal of racing games around the world, and some even compare it to the Olympics. Some players specifically mentioned that when facing a hall full of Japanese players, they were both excited and a little afraid because Japanese players’ love for Mario Racing and superb skills made defeating them an unofficial symbol of honor.

However, not all players regret the lack of this feature. Some players reported that in the past games, they had been harassed by other players due to their area. Some players also pointed out that the feature has not been accurately represented in previous games. For example, a player from Ireland but living in the UK was mistakenly represented by the British flag, while another player was forced to use the American flag as a representative because his country was not listed in the Nintendo eShop.

In addition to the lack of national flags, some players also regret that the Mii character is no longer used as standard avatar in the game. Mario Racing 8 Deluxe Edition was once one of the best Mii characters on the Nintendo Switch, where players can compete with classic characters from Mushroom Kingdom using custom Mii characters. Many players say they miss the visual experience they lost in the latest Mario Racing game.

Despite these controversies, Mario Racing World’s overall performance is still very good. As one of only two first-party games on the Nintendo Switch 2 console, the success of the game is of great significance to Nintendo. At present, the game’s popularity continues, and players’ feedback on features may also prompt the development team to make adjustments in the future.
