Passionategeekz On June 24, Suzuki Motor released official pictures of the new Alto. As a mid-term facelift version of the ninth-generation Alto, the new car has made many adjustments and optimizations in terms of appearance, configuration and power system. It is scheduled to be officially launched in the Japanese market on July 22, with a starting price of 1.1429 million yen (Passionategeekz Note: the current exchange rate is approximately RMB 55,896).

The new Alto has mainly modified the appearance of the front face details. Unlike the closed front face style of the old models, the new car has added a traditional style front air intake grille, which is more recognizable. The headlight group still maintains the polygonal rounded corner design, while the front license plate installation location retains the iconic non-centered layout of this generation. In addition, some models have added a rear spoiler, which further enhances the vehicle’s sportiness.

In terms of body color matching, the new Alto provides consumers with a rich choice. There are 12 body color matching models in the entire series, including 8 solid colors and 4 dual-colors. Among them, terracotta powder metal paint has been added to the solid color coating, while the roof color of the two-color model has been changed from white to beige, and a black roof is added to choose from.

The new Alto body size is 3395 mm x 1475 mm x 1525 mm, with a wheelbase of 2460 mm, and a 4-seat layout inside the car. In contrast, the four-door version of Wuling Hongguang MINIEV, a popular model in the domestic microcar market, has a length, width and height of 3256 mm × 1510 mm × 1578 mm, and a wheelbase of 2190 mm. The new Alto is slightly better in body size and wheelbase.

The interior design of the new Alto continues the overall style of the old model. The center console adopts a symmetrical layout, the gear shift lever is integrated on the center console, and the front main/co-pilot is a through-type floor, making the space utilization more reasonable. In terms of configuration, the new car’s 7-inch central control screen has added a Suzuki Connect interconnect function, and users can remotely control the air conditioner through their mobile phones. However, the entry-level model is not equipped with a multi-function steering wheel and central control screen, and the central control screen area adopts a “small blackboard” design.

In terms of safety configuration, the new Alto comes standard with a collision mitigation brake system, which can detect vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles and motorcycles, as well as intersection vehicles through millimeter-wave radar and monocular cameras. In addition, the new car also comes standard with preventive safety configurations such as low-speed brake assist (forward/reverse), lane departure warning and front parking radar.

In terms of power, the new Alto continues to be equipped with a 0.66-liter three-cylinder engine and a 0.66-liter oil-electric hybrid system, and the power parameters are consistent with the old model. Among them, the maximum power of the 0.66-liter engine is 34 kW and the peak torque is 55 Nm; the maximum power of the 0.66-liter oil-electric hybrid system is 36 KW, the peak torque is 58 Nm, the motor power is 1.9 KW and the motor torque is 40 Nm. In terms of transmission system, the entire new car is matched with a CVT continuously variable transmission, and both power systems can provide two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models for consumers to choose from.

Since the seventh generation model, the Alto series has not entered the Chinese market again. Despite this, the domestic micro-car market is still showing a booming trend under the wave of new energy.
