Motorola has unveiled its new premium smartphone, the motorola signature 27, at the Snapdragon Summit on September 22, 2026. The phone is positioned as Motorola’s most advanced smartphone so far and brings together the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform, advanced AI features, a powerful camera system, premium design, and long-term software support.
The motorola signature 27 is also an important change for Motorola’s ultra-premium Signature family. It is the second-generation device in the series and introduces a new naming system based on the final two digits of the upcoming year. This means Motorola plans to use a clearer numerical identity for future Signature smartphones.
Motorola Signature 27 gets Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6
The biggest highlight of the Motorola Signature 27 is its processor. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Mobile Platform, which was unveiled at the same Snapdragon Summit. Motorola says the new platform is designed to deliver fast and reliable performance while also improving on-device AI, camera features, gaming and download speeds. The phone also uses six antennas to support faster connectivity and cloud-based AI experiences.
To keep the phone cool during heavy use, Motorola has introduced its ArcticMesh cooling system. It combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh and a redesigned 3D vapor chamber. Motorola says the cooling system is 40% larger than the previous generation and is designed to help maintain performance during gaming, AI tasks and video recording.
Seven years of software support
Long-term software support is another major part of the Motorola Signature 27. Motorola says the phone will receive seven OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates starting from its global launch date. Availability and support can vary by market, network provider and model.
Google Gemini brings new AI features
The Motorola Signature 27 also focuses heavily on AI. The smartphone comes with Google Gemini experiences that can help users move from simple ideas to actions across supported apps and services. Motorola says Gemini can assist with tasks such as planning outings, booking dinner and finding event tickets.
For creative users, Gemini Omni can turn a prompt, photos or existing video footage into a polished video. Motorola also highlights Lyria, which can be used to generate original music and custom soundtracks. These features are designed to make content creation easier directly from the smartphone.
200MP periscope camera and 50MP Sony sensor
Camera performance is another key focus of the Motorola Signature 27. The phone features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor, which Motorola says is designed to capture detailed images with rich colours and strong contrast. The phone also gets a 200MP periscope telephoto camera for photographing distant subjects, architecture and landscapes.
For video recording, Motorola has added its Video Enhancement Engine. The system uses AI to analyse scenes and adjust colour tones in real time. It is designed to improve video in situations such as concerts, night recording and sunsets while maintaining natural-looking colours and detail.
The camera system also combines Qualcomm’s Image Stabilization technology with 3.5-degree OIS hardware. This is designed to make handheld video, walking shots and panning smoother and more stable.
Audio by Bang & Olufsen
The Motorola Signature 27 is also the company’s first smartphone to feature Audio by B&O. The feature comes from Motorola’s multi-year partnership with Bang & Olufsen and combines Motorola’s smartphone technology with B&O’s audio expertise and design approach.
Premium design with two finishes
Motorola has given the Signature 27 a premium design with a slim aluminium body, contoured edges and a distinctive camera housing. The camera area combines ceramic and brushed aluminium to create a different look from a standard smartphone camera module.
The phone will be available in two finishes. PANTONE Coal Smoke comes with a Tactical Weave texture inspired by automotive engineering and performance wear. The textured surface is designed to improve grip while adding a premium look.
The second option is PANTONE Capulet Olive with a brushed textile-inspired finish. Motorola says this design takes inspiration from premium fashion and interior design and is focused on creating a softer tactile experience.
