Passionategeekz According to June 22, since its launch on February 28, Capcom’s action role-playing game “Monster Hunter: Wilderness” has taken a sharp turn on the Steam platform. According to SteamDB data, the highest number of simultaneous online users in the game in 24 hours was only 18,468, a sharp drop in the number of players compared with the peak of 1.38 million on February 25. In addition to the sharp decline in the number of players, the game has also been bombarded with large-scale negative reviews recently.

According to Passionategeekz, when “Monster Hunter: Wilderness” was launched on the first day of the Steam platform on February 28, it set a record for Capcom’s action role-playing game on the PC platform with more than 1.38 million people online, but it was subsequently criticized by PC players due to performance issues. Many players have reported that the game has performance problems in various hardware configurations, and it is difficult to run smoothly even on devices that exceed Capcom’s recommended configuration. Some players also said that the performance problems of the game not only did not improve through subsequent updates, but instead became more and more serious over time.

In addition to technical issues, players also expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of game updates and the lack of new content. This dissatisfaction eventually broke out in June, causing Monster Hunter: The Wilderness to drop to “bad reviews” on the Steam platform. Despite this, Capcom is still optimistic about the future of the game. The title update 2, which is expected to be launched on June 30, will solve the demands of some players and is expected to temporarily reverse the trend of loss of players on PC platforms. Previously, the title update 1 released in early April doubled the peak of the Steam platform’s simultaneous online audience, but the increase failed to last.

In sharp contrast to the downturn in the Steam platform, the player reviews of “Monster Hunter: Wilderness” have always been relatively positive on the console platform. Players in the Xbox Series X/S version gave high scores of 4.3 stars, based on the ratings of more than 2,200 players; and more than 60,000 players on the PlayStation Store gave high scores of 4.49 stars. These ratings have remained basically stable since the game was launched on February 28, showing that the console players are more satisfied with the game.
