Passionategeekz On June 19, LG Energy Solution and Toyota Trading announced the establishment of Green Metals Battery Innovations, a joint venture focused on battery recycling, which will build a pre-processing plant in North Carolina, USA.

The factoryBlack substances containing precious raw materials such as nickel, cobalt and lithium will be extracted by dismantling and crushing battery production waste.planned to be put into operation in 2026, with a goal of achieving the maximum annual processing capacity of 13,500 tons of waste, equivalent to more than 40,000 automotive batteries.

The valuable black substance extracted from the pretreatment factory will later enter the post-treatment step to further enable the recycling of raw materials. Joint venture Green Metals Battery Innovations seeks to further establish a battery-to-battery closed-loop system to reuse the resulting raw materials for battery production.
