LG Display plans to evaluate lithography OLED technology in the production line of Paju, South Korea

Passionategeekz June 30th, Korean media DealSite reported on the 26th of this month that LG Display plans to evaluate the photolithography OLED technology without FMM (Passionategeekz Note: Fine Metal Mask Version) in its existing TV OLED production line in Paju, South Korea.

The difference between lithographic OLED and FMM OLED starts with the pixel definition layer, which first performs a single primary color whole-side evaporation, and then selectively removes the portions on the substrate that do not need to be retained. After that, the process is repeated twice to achieve full-color graphicization of the three primary colors.JDI’s eLEAP and Visino’s ViP both fall into this category of concepts

FMM OLED is currently the main production technology for small and medium-sized OLED panels, but there are also inherent problems with low opening rates. Its reliance on fine masks also limits its application in the fields of medium and large sizes and high pixel density.

For LG Display, the current utilization rate of its Pozhou TV OLED production line is relatively low, and WOLED and lithography OLED have some interoperability in equipment and principles. The development of lithography OLED on the idle production line of TV WOLEDCan lay the foundation for future technological transformation with low cost
