[CNMO Technology News]On June 19, the digital chat station published an article revealing that the eSIM technology in the country is in the testing stage, mainly driven by Apple, aiming to be applied to the ultra-light and thin iPhone 17 Air expected to be released by the end of the year. In addition, it is reported that new models of other brands such as Huawei are also testing this technology.
Not long ago, Sina Technology reported that after a two-year suspension, the three major domestic operators plan to fully resume and promote eSIM business in the second half of this year.
It is reported that China Unicom has taken the lead in restarting eSIM services in 25 provinces and cities including Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. China Mobile also stated that it will gradually open eSIM services nationwide and is optimizing and resource preparation for related systems. China Telecom does not support the activation of eSIM for new users for the time being. The official customer service said that it is currently in the system upgrade stage and the specific recovery time has not been determined.
Let me briefly introduce eSIM technology, which represents an embedded SIM card solution without the need for a physical SIM card slot. Compared with traditional physical SIM cards, eSIM is directly integrated into the device motherboard, allowing users to activate network connections wirelessly, greatly saving the internal space of the device. This technology not only provides mobile phone manufacturers with the possibility of designing thinner devices, but also provides consumers with a more convenient service experience.
The biggest advantage of eSIM is its flexibility and portability. For users who often need to travel abroad or change operators frequently, network configuration changes can be completed with just a simple operation. At the same time, due to the removal of the traditional SIM card slot design, the phone can obtain better waterproof and dustproof performance, further improving the durability and safety of the device. With the three major operators restarting their eSIM business and the active follow-up of major mobile phone brands, it indicates that the smartphone market will usher in new changes in the future.
