[CNMO Technology News]The first beta version of Apple iOS 26 has been settled. Although the main updates have not been fully disclosed, developers and users have begun to pay attention to some of the smaller but practical features. According to Passionategeekz, a foreign media recently summarized small functions that five users in iOS 26 may ignore but are more practical:

iOS 26

1. Emoji Games: Added interactive experience

Apple News+ subscribers can experience a brand new Emoji game in the United States and Canada. The game requires players to complete words or phrases by combining emojis. This is the fifth interactive game on Apple News+, with Crossword, Crossword Mini, Quartiles and Sudoku being launched previously.

2. Satellite Weather: Check weather information offline

iOS 26 will introduce the “Satellite Weather” feature, allowing users to view the latest weather forecast information without Wi-Fi or cellular network connection. The feature has been mentioned in iOS 26’s first beta code, but it has not yet been officially launched. It is expected to be enabled in subsequent beta releases.

3. Custom ringtone: No GarageBand required

iOS 26 allows users to set custom ringtones without using the GarageBand app. Users simply select an MP3 or M4A audio file with a duration of no more than 30 seconds in the “File” application, enter the “More” option through the share button, and select “Use as ringtone” to add the audio file to the “Ringtone” option under “Sound and Touch” in “Settings”.

4. Digital Passport: Secure Identity Authentication Tool

iOS 26 introduces the “Digital Passport” feature, allowing users to create digital versions of US passports on their iPhone. Digital identities generated through the Apple Wallet app can be used to authenticate at a specified TSA checkpoint when traveling domestically. Apple stressed that this feature is not a passport replacement and cannot be used for international travel or border access. Additionally, this digital identity can be used for age and authentication, suitable for applications, online platforms and stores.

5. Message selection: Copying text is more flexible

In the Messages app, iOS 26 has added a “Select” feature, allowing users to select and copy a portion of text in a conversation bubble. In previous versions, users could only copy the entire message bubble.
