[CNMO Technology News]Recently, new news about Intel’s next-generation Nova Lake-S desktop processor platform has been leaking. Following the exposure of multiple CPU specifications, the latest news reveals the platform’s significant improvements in memory support and PCIe expansion, which will bring stronger performance potential to high-end users and hardware enthusiasts.
First of all, in terms of memory, Nova Lake-S will natively support memory speeds up to DDR5-8000 MT/s. Compared with the current DDR5-6400 native specifications of the Arrow Lake-S platform, the improvement is 25%. Higher memory bandwidth not only significantly improves high-load computing and gaming performance, but also means that the potential of DDR5 overclocking will be taken to the next level in the future. It is reported that with high-performance memory modules and CUDIMM solutions, the memory speed is expected to exceed 10,000 MT/s, or even higher.
At the same time, the Nova Lake-S platform will further promote the popularization of new memory forms such as CUDIMM and LPCAMM2, providing more flexible expansion options for overclocking players and professional users, while traditional DIMM modules focus more on mainstream market demand.
In terms of scalability, the number of PCIe 5.0 channels of the Nova Lake-S processor will be increased from 24 of the Arrow Lake-S to 36, of which 4 are used for DMI, leaving a total of 32 for GPU and SSD. This means that motherboard manufacturers can provide users with two x16 full-speed slots, or a combined design of one x16 and four x4 slots. At the same time, the platform will also be equipped with 16 PCIe 4.0 channels to meet the needs of more peripheral equipment connections.
In addition to the significant performance upgrade, the Nova Lake-S will also be unveiled in 2026 with the new 900 series motherboard, and is expected to bring stronger overclocking functions and platform optimization. Although the details are still in the early stages, it shows Intel’s ambitions on the next generation desktop platform and also brings more expectations to PC hardware enthusiasts.
