[CNMO Technology News]According to Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, as of May 2025, the total number of public charging piles in my country has reached 4.08 million, an increase of 91,000 compared with last month, and an increase of 18,000 compared with May last year, with a growth rate of 25%. The number of private charging piles reached 10.32 million, an increase of 245,000 in May compared with last month, with a growth rate of 3%. In addition, the average monthly charging capacity of a single pile of public charging piles reached 1580 degrees, a significant increase compared with 1358 degrees in May last year.

In recent years, my country has made great progress in the construction of charging infrastructure, and has built the world’s largest number, widest service scope and most complete types of charging facilities system. According to statistics, the utilization rate of public charging piles is about three times that of private charging piles. Based on this calculation, the ratio of charging facilities to pure electric vehicles in the first five months of 2025 is close to 1:1.

However, the current charging infrastructure still faces some challenges, such as imperfect layout, unreasonable structure, backward technology of old charging piles and uneven service quality. These problems have affected the purchase satisfaction of electric vehicles in low-tier areas to a certain extent. Despite this, as the market size continues to expand, there is still a lot of room for adjustment and improvement, and the electric vehicle market still has huge development potential.

Judging from the development of different types of charging piles, the performance of DC charging piles is particularly outstanding, and the operating data of leading operators is particularly impressive. For example, GAC Energy’s charging piles averaged 6,804 degrees per pile in May, while NIO and Tesla’s data were 2,354 degrees and 2,893 degrees respectively. In contrast, the average monthly charge of some old AC low-power charging piles is only more than 100 degrees.
