Google’s new initiative to “send AI to campus”: launching Gemini education program exclusively for teachers and students

The most eye-catching of these is the product called “Gemini for Education”. Google says this is aGemini app version designed for schoolshas an enterprise-level data protection mechanism. This function willFree integration into existing Education solutionsmeaning that schools can directly use Google’s premium Gemini 2.5 Pro model without additional fees.

For teachers, Gemini in the Classroom is now available for free to all Workspace for Education users, with more than 30 new features that significantly improve teaching preparation efficiency, such asInstant generation of vocabulary lists, etc.

The “Video Overviews” feature, unveiled at the I/O developer conference last month, has now officially landed on NotebookLM. It canQuickly convert learning materials into short and vivid educational videosfirst to open to students and teachers over 18 years old.

Some AI functions will be launched as paid surcharge services. In addition, NotebookLM will also be open to all grades through school accounts, but will be accompanied by stricter content policies and AI literacy guidance. Administrators can fully control these services in the Admin console, including permission settings, usage report viewing, and if necessary, they can also retrieve relevant conversation records through Vault.

According to Passionategeekz, Google has launched a free subscription to Google One AI Premium for American college students starting from April, and will not have to pay the original $20 per month until June 30, 2026.
