The investor is actually controlled by Li Shufu, founder and chairman of Geely Holding Groupit is originally one of the shareholders of Polestar. After the transaction, Li Shufu will hold 66% of Polestar Polestar through PSD Investment and Geely’s Swedish subsidiary, while Volvo Cars’ stake in Polestar Polestar has been reduced from 18% to 16%.
Polestar is a Swedish electric performance car brand headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. Its cars are sold in 28 markets around the world, covering North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Polestar currently has three models: Polestar 2, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. Planned models include the four-door GT model Polestar 5, the Polestar 6 convertible, which will be launched in 2025, and the Polestar 7 compact SUV. Currently, Polestar’s automobiles are manufactured on two continents, namely North America and Asia, and plans to further expand its manufacturing territory and produce the Polestar 7 in Europe.
Polestar’s first quarter report showed that the brand’s retail sales in the first quarter totaled about 12,304 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 76.4%; revenue increased by US$278 million, a year-on-year increase of 84.2%, mainly driven by increased sales and favorable changes in product portfolio;Net loss was US$190 million, down US$86 million year-on-year。
Polestar’s retail sales reached 44,851 units in 2024, down 15% from 2023.
