Originally published in the pages of Monthly Shonen Gangan in 2001, the manga ran until 2010 and is accessible in English through VIZ Media. Over the years, the series has inspired two television anime adaptations, with the first airing in 2003 and the second, known as Brotherhood, following in 2009. Additionally, “Fullmetal Alchemist” has led to anime films, OVAs, and even a live-action film.

The story centers around brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, both of whom are young, talented alchemists. In their quest to bring their deceased mother back to life, they attempt the forbidden act of human transmutation. Unfortunately, the process goes horribly wrong, resulting in Edward losing his leg and Alphonse vanishing altogether. In a desperate bid to save his brother, Edward sacrifices his arm to bind Alphonse’s soul to a suit of armor. This tragic event sets the brothers on a long and arduous journey to reclaim their original bodies.
