Passionategeekz According to June 22, the product quality of automakers has always been an important indicator for measuring their brand strength. It not only represents the reliability and consistency of products, but also reflects the pride of enterprises. However, Ford’s recalls this year are not optimistic, with data showing that as of June 22, 2025, Ford has launched 81 recalls, which is more than its total recalls for the whole year of 2024 (67), and is not even halfway through 2025.
This year,Ford launches a recall every 2.12 days on average, affecting a total of 4,077,666 vehicles.. This means that each recall involves an average of 50,341 vehicles. By comparison, Ford recalled 4,776,770 vehicles throughout 2024, involving a total of 66 recalls and 1 OTA fix. This year, only one recall has adopted an OTA repair method.
It is worth noting that the 2022 Ford proudly claimed it has made significant progress in quality, however, from what happened this year, things seem to be off track. The biggest recall of Ford this year was the problem of reversing cameras, affecting a total of 1,075,299 vehicles, covering almost all Ford models. More notable is that at least 10 recalls this year have been associated with reversing cameras, a technology that does not seem to have become more reliable as time goes by.
Passionategeekz noticed that Ford’s recall issue also involves multiple systems. Among them, the “electrical system” is one of the main reasons for the recall, triggering a total of 17 recall operations. For example, Ford recalled 272,817 vehicles because the 12-volt battery may age quickly and fail. Additionally, in another recall, Ford said there are 492,145 cars with B-pillar trim that could fall off.
This week, Ford also recalled 196,911 Mustang Mach-Es due to door handle issues, including 196,911 in the United States and 100,000 in overseas markets. Judging from these issues, Ford’s recall problem is not limited to a certain type of system or component, but is widely present in different models and multiple production plants.
Despite frequent recalls, there are also positives. Ford has recalled 14 times this year involving fewer than 100 vehicles, which shows that Ford can detect and deal with problems in a timely manner when they have not yet been expanded. Among them, the total number of vehicles involved in 10 recalls is less than 10. Additionally, there was a recall that did not involve any vehicles, but instead replaced the cylinder head of the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine.
If we want to select the automaker with the most recalls, Ford is undoubtedly the “champion” of this year, and has launched 81 recalls. Following closely behind is Forest River, a RV, truck and truck manufacturer, with 18 recalls; Volkswagen and Stellantis are tied for third, both 15 recalls; Mercedes-Benz is 13 recalls; Honda-Auca and GM are 12.
