Passionategeekz On June 20, China Aviation Industry Corporation’s official Weibo account posted that the “Auspicious Bird” AC332 helicopter recently completed a plateau self-rotation landing test flight at Lugu Lake Airport, Ninglang, Yunnan Province, which is the first time among domestic twin-engine helicopters.This test flight fully verified the reliability of the helicopter’s rotational landing design, marking that the model-related performance complies with the airworthiness standards

It is reported that when the pilot is flying a helicopter, if the engine fails to provide power, he can safely land through rotation operation. Therefore, the helicopter’s rotation and landing ability is the last line of defense to ensure flight safety, and it is the life-saving skill of the pilot and the helicopter themselves.

During this test flight, the “Auspicious Bird” AC332 helicopter entered a rotation state at an altitude of 3658 meters. After related operations, it successfully slowed down the descent speed with its own performance and achieved a safe landing. In order to ensure the safety of the test flight, the project team conducted several desktop deductions in advance and jointly provided all-round guarantees with local airports and medical rescue forces. Previously, this model had completed the rotation landing verification in the plain environment at Jiansanjiang Wetland Airport in Heilongjiang.

According to reports, the AC332 helicopter is a dual-engine multi-purpose helicopter developed by China Aviation Industry Corporation in accordance with the latest airworthiness requirements of CCAR-29-R2. It adopts a single rotor, a high-mounted duct tail rotor and a skid-type landing gear design. It has previously carried out a number of test flights such as high-temperature, high-altitude and plateau test flights, as well as a rotating landing test flights, aerial reboot test flights, and completed all test flights of the power system and most test flights of the avionics system.

Passionategeekz inquiry learned that the AC332 helicopter has excellent performance indicators. Under the take-off and landing conditions of 4500 meters above sea level, standard atmosphere (ISA) + 20℃, it can achieve the goal of flying altitude of 600 meters, range of 600 kilometers and commercial load of 600 kilograms. According to the multi-type development concept of one aircraft, AC332 helicopter can be applied in medical rescue, emergency rescue, official law enforcement, plateau operations and marine operations, supporting efficient completion of various operational tasks such as personnel and material transportation, search and rescue, and medical rescue, and meeting the existing and planned transfer requirements of airports in the plateau area.
