Passionategeekz On June 24, market research firm Canalys released a blog post yesterday (June 23), reporting that India’s personal computer (PC, excluding tablets) shipments in the first quarter of 2025 were 3.3 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13%.
The main factor driving the growth momentum was due to the 21% increase in laptop shipments to 2.4 million units; while the shipments of desktops fell by 3% to 906,000 units.
Meanwhile, Indian tablet shipments suffered a 24% annual decline, falling to 1 million units. The overall PC market is expected to grow by 6% in 2025 to more than 15 million units, while tablet shipments are expected to fall by 8%.
In Q1 2025, AI-enabled laptops continued to gain momentum, up 253% year-on-year, despite their smaller base. Shipments of high-end laptops sold for over $1,000 increased by 49%, reflecting demand for high-performance devices from consumers and business users.
